Company valuations are generated for a wide range of reasons. However, the main reasons are
- Standard reasons such as separation, inheritance or anticipated succession
- Disputes between shareholders
- An intended company acquisition or sale
- Tax valuation
-
Change in the proprietary format of former public organisations (privatisation)
Company valuations are conducted in accordance with the individual circumstances of the respective company and as per the measures set out by the IDW standards "Principles for conducting company valuations (IDW S1)" as issued by the Institute of Auditors on the 28.06.2000, as well as the applicable literature and case judicature.
Appraisals provided in legal cases are drawn up in accordance with the applicable professional principles.
It is necessary to specify the structure and details of each appraisal on an individual basis. It is thus essential that a comprehensive discussion takes place in each case, during which the precise appraisal requirements are captured in full. The specific procedure that the appraiser will follow is derived from the results of this discussion, together with a list of the specific documents required from each of the parties. The appraiser will generally collect together his own information with which to formulate an opinion.
The appraisal will be utilised to generate a comprehensive report, in which the initial task, the sources of information, the procedure and the results will all be presented in a comprehensible format.
The fee is calculated on the basis of the time required for the respective case, as well as the respective degree of complexity. It is thus necessary to agree the fee at the time of order assignment.
